El cineasta Claudio Chea, fallecido el miércoles a causa de un infarto en una clínica de la capital, fue una persona de gran calidad humana, visionario y creativo, que con su talento logró trascender como director de fotografía en la industria del cine del extranjero.
Esa es la valoración de los cineastas Alfonso Rodríguez, Ángel Muñiz, Félix Germán, Hans García, el cantautor José Antonio Rodríguez, así como el productor de televisión Tuto Guerrero y de los publicistas Nandy Rivas y Freddy Ginebra.
Alfonso Rodríguez, experimentado cineasta y hoy cónsul dominicano en Los Ángeles, elogió su huella en el cine.
“Claudio es el pionero en cuanto a la realización de comerciales y audiovisuales de cualquier género. Claudio Chea Films, su firma, fue una de las empresas mas grandes en el país, que dio servicio de primera calidad a publicitarias, cine local y a las más importantes producciones internacionales, sin duda el más grande cineasta de todos los tiempos”.
Para el veterano productor y director de cine, Ángel Muñiz, Claudio Chea fue un gran cinematógrafo y un gran ser humano.
Como profesional estaba muy seguro de sí mismo y por lo tanto era arriesgado. Cuando León Ichazo, el director cubano (director de El Súper), hizo una película con la biografía de un poeta, de la que fue director de fotografía, en ese entonces salió la cámara P2, y lo que él hizo debe escribirse en la historia de esa generación de cámaras. Claudio supo manejarla en un momento en el que se estaba haciendo la transición del celuloide en 35 milímetros, que luego bajó a 16”.
Recordó que Claudio se atrevió a trabajar de lo digital a celuloide. “Recurrió a sus conocimientos y asumió el riesgo para hacerlo con el apoyo de León Ichazo. Él trascendió la frontera dominicana y ha sido el director de fotografía de mayor trascendencia”, aseguró.
Tuto Guerrero, por su parte, consideró que Chea fue el ojo de grandes directores dominicanos.
“Su trabajo cinematográfico recoge los colores de nuestra hermosa isla. Claudio fue el primer cinematógrafo que conocí que hacía proyectos internacionales. Fue el profesor de tantos y era un absoluto honor tener una conversación con él”.
Omar de la Cruz, director del Festival de Cine Global de Santo Domingo dijo que era su ídolo. “Una de las personas más respetadas a nivel internacional y en el país”. En Funglode siempre mantuvo una gran amistad con el presidente Leonel Fernández, fue uno de los primeros en aprobar el Festival de Cine Global.
El director de cine y gremialista Hans García lo catalogó como una de las figuras más importantes en el cine dominicano.
“Para mí Claudio Chea ha sido la figura más importante en lo que se refiere a la cinematografía dominicana. En lo personal tiene un significado especial, ya que mi inicio en la industria cinematográfica fue en su empresa, paz a su alma”.
Félix Germán, cineasta y actor, lamentó el deceso de su amigo. “Pionero del cine, un hombre con una valoración tremenda aquí y en el exterior. Yo trabajé con Claudio desde la campaña de Barceló, muy triste estoy”.
Freddy Ginebra, publicista y fundador de Casa de Teatro, ponderó su calidad profesional y personal. “Extraordinario ser humano, gran amigo. El cine dominicano pierde mucho con la partida del querido Claudio. Hemos perdido a una persona seria y solidaria”.
Para el veterano publicista Nandy Rivas el país ha perdido a un gran profesional. “Muchos lo ubican como director de fotografía y comerciales, pero algunos ignoran que fue gran director de fotografía de corte internacional. Hemos perdido a un gran profesional y a un querido y admirado amigo”.
A José Antonio Rodríguez lo golpeó la noticia, precisamente porque, además de la amistad que le unió, estaba con él en un proyecto.“Esta muerte nos da muy duro. Mi historia con Claudio fue cercana. Estaba involucrado en un proyecto nuevo… la muerte está tratando de que nosotros nos acostumbremos a ella. ¡Qué pena!”, dijo.
