La restauración del parque central de esta comunidad, realizada por el Banco Popular en alianza con el Estado, fue inagurada junto a la primera dama Raquel Arbaje y el Ministro de Industria, Comercio y Mipymes (MICM) Víctor –Ito-Bisonó.
El proyecto involucró una inversión aproximada de RD$7.2 millones. Fue realizado por la entidad financiera en el marco del programa “Parques recreativos: de la industria a la comunidad”, que promueven Arbaje, en su calidad de presidenta del Gabinete de Niños y Adolescentes, y el MICM bajo el modelo de alianza público-privada.
Las mejoras incluyeron nueva iluminación, habilitación y ampliación de accesos para discapacitados, siembra de arbustos naturales, señalización completa, construcción de una tarima para actividades culturales y recreativas; área de juegos infantiles, construcción de una nueva cisterna con capacidad de 1,200 galones de agua y un sistema de bombeo para alimentar el riego automático.
El presidente ejecutivo del Popular, Christopher Paniagua, expresó que “esta obra es el resultado de una alianza público privada, recurso para el desarrollo de las comunidades que ha venido estimulando el Estado y en el que nuestra organización financiera cree firmemente”.
La sucursal del Popular de Boca Chica, situada en el entorno del parque, suministrará energía de emergencia a este espacio en caso de cortes eléctricos en el municipio.
Esta oficina es una de las 56 sucursales fotovoltaicas autosuficientes de la entidad financiera, que se alimentan de la energía que proporcionan sus paneles solares.
