El presidente Luis Abinader recorrió este martes las inmediaciones del antiguo mercadito, donde se produjo un incendio que dejó muertos , heridos, desaparecidos y negocios con daños importantes.

Abinader, luego del descenso que hizo al lugar de la tragedia, ofreció una rueda de prensa donde expresó su pesar e informó que hasta ese momento la cifra de internos en los hospitales de San Cristóbal rondaba las 37 personas, más cerca de 25 en clínicas privadas.

Asimismo, no quiso referirse a un monto específico de fallecidos, aunque el parte del SNS daba un total de nueve personas que perdieron la vida por el siniestro.

El mandatario resaltó que el gobierno ha estado dando todo el apoyo médico a los afectados, asimismo no se detendrá hasta intervenir el área de escombros, donde todavía la humareda no ha cesado.

El jefe de Estado subrayó que la cifra de desaparecidos es actualmente 12 personas.

Durante su recorrido el presidente Luis Abinader, se hizo acompañar de la gobernadora Pura Casilla, el ministro de la presidencia, Joel Santos, el ministro de Salud Pública, Daniel Rivera, el administrador de la EGEHID, Rafael Salazar, y otras autoridades.
