El 16 de agosto del 2006 Sergio Vargas se subía a un viaje político, el cual asegura no quiere volver a repetir. El Negrito de Villa había ganado una  curul en la Cámara de Diputados, por el Partido de la Liberación Dominicana, representando Villa Altagracia.

Sergio habla con tono de dolor de la experiencia vivida durante esos cuatro años. Su queja se debe al mal manejo del dinero público y a la ausencia de un real trabajo a favor de la gente.

El merenguero (15 de marzo de 1960), que celebra este sábado los 35 años del nacimiento de su orquesta “La Filarmónica de Villa Altagracia”, nunca ha reparado en decir lo que piensa.

Su voz siempre ha retumbado ante el público no solamente por sus exquisitas interpretaciones, también por sus contundentes declaraciones sobre cualquier tema que se le cuestione.

“De volver a ser diputado la única manera que lo fuera es si tratara de un trabajo honorífico, gratis,  y todos fuéramos allí por el interés de legislar a favor de la gente, pero jamás volveré a optar por un cargo político”, dijo.

No obstante aclaró que siempre será un ente de la política, una voz que hablará a favor de los necesitados, una filosofía de vida que ha asumido desde que pudo compartir lo que gana con la gente de su pueblo. “Vivo en Villa Altagracia en una casa sin puertas, en donde todos pueden llegar allí y encontrar un plato de comida caliente, donde todos los días atiendo a una gran cantidad de  personas, que van en busca de que se le ayude para un receta, un ataúd o cualquier otra cosa. Y eso nunca lo he hecho con intención de ganarme el favor de la gente”, aclaró.

En los últimos días el nombre de Sergio Vargas ha circulado de boca en boca, primero por su aparición en el expediente  Medusa, en el que funcionarios del pasado gobierno están siendo acusados de corrupción. Sobre esta situación el merenguero ya ha ofrecido sus aclaraciones, pero en cuanto a este tema y otros recientes, de una manera jocosa el artista ha dicho que todos esos casos le han convenido bastante porque le ha permitido “sonar en el medio”.

Muy delgado

Con  70 libras menos, peso que ha perdido luego de padecer la Covid-19, el merenguero espera celebrar con el pueblo dominicano estos 35 años de su agrupación, porque de carrera artística lleva ya unos 40 años, desde que su voz se diera escuchar, en 1982, en el festival de La Voz, que organizaba Rafael  Solano cuando obtuviera el segundo lugar, siendo superado por Chao Aguilera. Así inició su andar por la música junto a Dioni Fernández, Los hijos del Rey, y luego su agrupación.

Luego de presentado en el Jaragua se hará una gira de conciertos por todo el país con invitados sorpresas para celebrar con  lo merece El Artista de la Patria.

“Sergio Vargas 35 Aniversario” es producido por René  Brea, a presentarse este sábado en el Teatro la Fiesta del hotel Jaragua.

“Desde aquí elevo una invitación al pueblo a que se dé cita la noche del 10 de septiembre a celebrar no solo la historia musical de Sergio Vargas, sino esas tres décadas donde hemos tratado de hacer un merengue con respeto, por lo que es una promesa de que la vamos a cantar todas, las viejas y las de ahora”, anunció el intérprete de “La quiero a morir”.
