Daddy Yankee anunció este viernes que se ha coronado como el embajador del Clásico Mundial de Béisbol, en el primer paso de una nueva era profesional en la que va a estar enfocado en el deporte, nuevas empresas y la producción de cine y televisión.

«Esto es lo que voy a estar haciendo ahora que terminó mi etapa en la música, ya tengo mi equipo de béisbol en Puerto Rico y cada vez voy a estar más involucrado en lo que tiene que ver con el deporte», indicó el artista y empresario puertorriqueño.

de prensa, en la que estaba flanqueado por el exbeisbolista dominicano David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz y los productores Playz-n-Skillz, Daddy Yankee reveló que su canción inédita «Chispa», ha sido escogida como el tema oficial del Clásico.

«La canción forma parte de las que hicimos para el disco ‘Legendaddy’, pero quedó para las que vamos a ir sacando como bonus (extras)», manifestó.

Producido por Playz-n-Skillz, el tema es un reguetón de percusión acelerada y con el clásico ritmo puntuado que ha hecho famoso a Daddy Yankee.

Además, el artista estará asistiendo a los juegos en Miami en su rol de embajador del evento, que en Estados Unidos es organizado por las Grandes Ligas de Béisbol.

El Clásico Mundial de Béisbol, que comenzó el miércoles y se extiende hasta el 21 de marzo, se ha disputado en cuatro ocasiones desde 2006, tres países ostentan el título de campeón y regresó luego de su suspensión en 2021 debido a la pandemia de la covid-19.

Esta quinta edición del campeonato más importante del mundo del béisbol de selecciones, que cuenta por primera vez con 20 equipos participantes, se disputará en cuatro sedes: Taichung (Taiwán), Tokio (Japón) y Phoenix y Miami en Estados Unidos.

Tanto Ortiz como Daddy Yankee resaltaron la importancia de mantener el encuentro internacional de béisbol como un torneo constante.

«No hay ninguna emoción que se compare a la de jugar por el equipo de tu país. Ningún premio, ningún otro logro», indicó ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz.

Por su parte, Daddy Yankee aseguró que en breve anunciará nuevas iniciativas, entre las que mencionó películas, series de televisión y documentales.

Además, indicó que su interés en el deporte irá más allá del béisbol, al que describió como «la verdadera pasión de mi vida, primero que la música», pues ha comenzado a incursionar como empresario en el mundo del boxeo.

A los 17 años, el llamado ‘Big Boss’ del reguetón estaba preseleccionado para sumarse al equipo de los Marineros de Seattle, cuando recibió un balazo en una pierna, que lo mantuvo con movilidad muy limitada y rehabilitación durante más de un año.

Este Clásico es el de mayor convocatoria en toda la historia del torneo y los participantes han sido divididos en cuatro grupos. En Taipei juega el A Taiwán, Países Bajos, Cuba, Italia y Panamá.

El grupo B juega en Tokio y está conformado por Japón, Corea del Sur, Australia, China y República Checa, mientras que el C lo hace en Phoenix con Estados Unidos, México, Colombia, Canadá y Gran Bretaña.

El grupo D tiene su sede en el estadio de los Marlins de Miami y reúne a Puerto Rico, Venezuela, República Dominicana, Israel y Nicaragua.
