Por disposición del presidente Luis Abinader, autoridades del Gobierno y de la Alcaldía de Santo Domingo Oeste anunciaron el traslado de manera temporal a partir de este domingo del mercado de pulgas a los terrenos del Merca Santo Domingo.

Así lo informó el ministro de Agricultura, Limber Cruz, durante una rueda de prensa desde el terreno que se utilizará para estos fines.

Indicó que el mandatario dispuso el traslado temporal por un período de 8 a 12 meses de los mercaderes a ese recinto, a fin de garantizar puedan obtener beneficios por sus ventas, las cuales han bajado por el cierre de sus operaciones en la avenida Luperón desde la pandemia del COVID-19.

“Con esta medida se dinamiza y apertura más el Merca y se les brinda a los vendedores de la pulga negociar sus productos y obtener ingresos durante este periodo navideño”, manifestó Limber Cruz.

Mientras, el Alcalde de Santo Domingo Oeste, José Andújar, exhortó a los recién instalados mercaderes mantener un protocolo de limpieza y ordenamiento en el expendio de sus productos, ya que el espacio abierto brinda más a oportunidades a los compradores.

De su lado, José Manuel Caro, representante de los comercializadores del mercado de pulgas, dijo sentirse agradecido que las autoridades les tomaran en cuenta para ellos poder vender sus productos y mantener la vigencia del mercado.

De acuerdo al comunicado, con esta medida dispuesta por el Estado se benefician cientos de mercaderes de distintos productos que cada domingo realizaban sus ventas en los alrededores de la autopista 30 de mayo, además del mantenimiento del ornato público en la zona, ya que el mercado ocasionaba grandes cúmulos de basura y dificultades en el tránsito en esa zona.

Asimismo, permite la vigencia del tradicional mercado que tiene años funcionando en diferentes lugares de la capital, hasta tanto sea establecido un local fijo para su instalación. Se estima que el mismo sea construido en la Autopista 6 de noviembre.
