Los Estados Unidos vencieron a Venezuela con marcador 9-7 en partido de cuartos de final del Clásico Mundial de Béisbol que se celebra en el Loandepot Park de la ciudad de Miami.
Adam Wainwright ha sido el lanzador seleccionado por el dirigente del conjunto norteamericano, Mark DeRosa para trabajar ante Cuba en el partido de semifinales que se jugará este domingo a partir de las 7 de la noche.
“Nuestro abridor va a ser Adam Wainwright, él ha lanzado en cualquier cantidad de partidos importantes en su carrera”, expresó DeRosa sobre su abridor en el juego semifinal.
El derecho de 41 años de edad, es el pelotero de mayor edad activo en el evento al momento y lanzará ante Cuba por el pase a la final de esta edición. En su salida ante Gran Bretaña, trabajó cuatro entradas en las que permitió cinco hits y una carrera limpia, otorgó una base y ponchó a cuatro contrarios.
Según las palabras de DeRosa, su situación para el relevo está cubierta, tenemos abridores que pueden trabajar en relevo, vamos a investigar la posibilidad de algunos de los muchachos que puedan trabajar en días consecutivos”, agregó DeRosa.
Entre los lanzadores relevistas que no utilizó en el encuentro, DeRosa destacó a Kendall Graveman y Aaron Loop, “sé que nos vamos a acostar bien tarde en la noche de hoy”, agregó.
“En el único momento que me sentí relajado fue cuando Ryan (Pressley) entró a relevar, enfrentar ese lineup no te permite confiado en ningún momento”, comentó DeRosa sobre el trabajo del bullpen.

Pese a que DeRosa tuvo una dilatada carrera como jugador en las Grandes Ligas durante 16 temporadas con ocho equipos, está en su primera experiencia como dirigente y tiene al conjunto norteamericano entre los cuatro mejores conjuntos del mundo.

DeRosa participó en el béisbol del caribe con los Leones del Caracas, y siempre destaca características sobre el béisbol del caribe en su trabajo como comentarista de la cadena MLB Network.
“La pasión con la que se juega la pelota de invierno es difícil de igualar, por eso quise conversar con los muchachos antes del partido, para hacerles saber el tipo de ambiente en el que íbamos a estar involucrados”, contestó DeRosa sobre su experiencia en el Clásico del béisbol venezolano, Caracas vs Magallanes.
Pese a que el evento se está jugando en territorio norteamericano, DeRosa estaba consciente que iba a estar jugando un partido como visitante en su propia casa, por las características de presencia latina que conlleva esta sede.
“La pasión en este lugar es increíble, Venezuela es un equipo lleno de estrellas, que juegan la pelota con amor y yo he vivido esto antes”, concluyó.
